I agree with Pennyturle, the Shire can be hard to deal with in many ways... Any news of cheaper rates is always one in my book.. Let?s wait and see. Hopefully they won?t treat us fringe dwellers

This forum is a wonderful idea and I'm so glad I've discovered it! I'm just wondering if it's ever been advertsied to attract more locals?

I have to tried to advertise as best as I could without spending money.

I've advised councillors and places like the Jimboomba Times on many occasions, but it appears that they are scared that we might be a threat to them, and stop people from reading their paper (yeah weird I know).

I've also mentioned Logan Village Weather to them on several occasions, with the last advising them of the -3.7 degree mornings we had just last month, and nothing appeared in JT even though the cold temperatures from elsewhere were mentioned in an article on the weather !

If I were paranoid I could think it has to do with me no longer advertising my business with them (they've overcharged me for advertising, and even mucked up my advertising on more than one occasion).  Grin

How exactly does one get Broadband out here in Cedar Vale?

I've contacted Optus (my provider) and Telstra and they say they're are ports available. The they call me back a week or so later to say that there isn't and that the exchange needs upgrading!

I work from home and dial up is driving me nuts!

The problem out this way is often due to PairGain Systems (PGS), which is where Tel$tra run two phone lines off the one copper pair. Of course there's still issues with distance from the exchange that can prevent you from getting adsl.

The reason why there's so many lines out here with PGS is to do with costs, and the fact that developers and the council just let it happen to save the developers a few dollars, and the council being just happy to hear that the development has power and phone.

First I've heard of it to be honest but if it means I don't  have to deal with stupid bloody Beaudesert Shire Council anymore then I'm happier than a pig in mud!  Grin

I'm just a little concerned that Logan City might decide that it is a good idea to bring the tiny 1/4 acre blocks out this way.

Some talk lately is that our rates on acreage might actually drop, but that's yet to be confirmed.

Pushing a full trolley up hill in that carpark while heavily pregnant, is not my idea of fun that's for sure!

Another reason why people still travel outside the area to other shopping centres to do their regular shopping, whether they are pregnant or not.

Sadly the council's general lack of action in letting Jimboomba develop (in favour of Beaudesert), has prevented Jimboomba from growing as it should.
