So what's the current feeling of people out this way who will no longer be Beaudesert Shire after March 2008 ?

Pretty much everything North of Veresdale will become Logan City in about 9 months time.

Anyone got any ideas of how much our rates are likely to be for Rural Residential when the change happens, and are we going to be milked for everything we've got ?

I wonder how Beaudesert is going to get on without the population density that we gave them, now that Beaudesert Shire is going to go over to Boonah and North to just shy of Ipswich ? ... and I thought these boundary changes were to make councils more viable in this day and age ??

First I've heard of it to be honest but if it means I don't  have to deal with stupid bloody Beaudesert Shire Council anymore then I'm happier than a pig in mud!  Grin

I'm just a little concerned that Logan City might decide that it is a good idea to bring the tiny 1/4 acre blocks out this way.

Some talk lately is that our rates on acreage might actually drop, but that's yet to be confirmed.

I agree with Pennyturle, the Shire can be hard to deal with in many ways... Any news of cheaper rates is always one in my book.. Let?s wait and see. Hopefully they won?t treat us fringe dwellers

Maybe without Beaudesert Shire Council trying to stop progress Jimboomba might actually get a few of the things that would make it a much nicer place to live!  Smiley

Once they rezone the school grounds as commercial, the developers will no doubt offer the Education Department top dollar for the land, which will mean they will have the money and no excuses to move the school to East Street, where it really belongs and kids will no longer have to congregate around Mt Lindesay Highway crossing, i.e. make it safer for the kids as they won't have to cross it anymore.

With the school land available for redevelopment adjoining the existing shopping centre, I have no doubt we'd get a bigger shopping centre for Jimboomba.

I am not happy at all...  I grew up in Logan, lived there for 26 years and was so happy to have gotten out when I moved to Jimboomba a few years ago...

I am very concerned that Logan City will promote urban sprawl, allow everyone to subdivide their blocks and Jimboomba will loose its country feel and lifestyle.  I love the fact that I have to drive into Brown's Plains to do shopping other than groceries.  (If I'd wanted to live in surburbia and have a large shopping center within 5 mins drive, I'd have stayed in Kingston)

I'd be more concerned with Property Values falling than Rates rising now that we'll be associated with Logan City...  Do you really think Logan will be better to deal with than Beaudesert Shire Council???

If upgrading Tully Memorial Park is top of Graham Ables new priority list I fear he has missed the enormousness of what he'll be taking on...

Now that things have settled down a bit, how does everyone think it's going along now?

I've noticed important roadworks like the roundabout at Latimer and Miller roads has come to a complete stop, and will not be completed by the Beaudesert council, as it's now in the Logan City Council area, yet the roundabout had already been completely funded by BSC.
